Why I hate Singapore

  • It's VERY clean and VERY safe - sometimes, it is just very septic, and very boring. There are no scary rides in the amusement parks.

  • The seasons NEVER change - it is always summer. It is never cold. Sometimes, if you try really hard, you can see some signs of spring, but those signs would look like summer for other people.

  • People here are not friendly. They are not unfriendly either.

  • Chinese people do not want to lose face. So they never argue, fight, yell, scream, etc. in public. Unless they are drunk. Coming from a latin-balcan society, sometimes I miss that. (I don't miss it that much, mind you)

  • There is no bread and cheese culture. Coffee mostly sucks.

  • The rocks in Sentosa are fake.

  • Shopping and eating are roughly the only two national sports that Singaporeans love to play.

  • People read at most newspapers (no books) or sleep in the subway or buses.

  • There's rarely a good play or a ballet or a concert.

  • A percentage of middle-class singaporeans have at least one maid (usually treated badly by the kids - at least) - usually from the philipines or indonesia. The singaporean kid that grew up in such a family will not know how to change a light bulb, iron his/her clothes, cook, sew a button, etc.

  • There is a set of rules or steps to be followed for everything. The moment you do something that does not fall in those steps or something happens that is unspecified, everything comes to a halt. Nobody wants to take responsibility, nobody wants to move an inch. Everybody is happy to delegate or wait for the supervisor to decide. And so on and so forth. - granted, there are steps and rules for mostly everything, but sometimes there aren't.

  • Kids are stressed with exams since primary school. When they reach university they are unable to think outside the box. I would say "Think" only, but thank god! that is not entirely true.

First, the rocks in Sentosa are fake?(LOL!) They don't look fake to me.
Second, sometimes, Singapore is really cold.(well, not from your view)
Finally, I agree on you for kids(in Primary School) are having stress during examinations. That's what I hate during Primary School(one of them).

As judging by some of my Singapore friends... Most of them (9 of 10) are too proud of using English as first language, so they have an attitude that appears like ignoring non-English speakers. Apparently, their parent cannot use perfect English and themselves. Please... Stop use Singlish. F out!

So... Basically Singapore sucks. Another thing which is the education focuses too much on junior college. Causing the lack entrepreneurship and blind followers.

yeah(im a student, I dont go to public school tho)
I hate singapore too...
these singaporeans, they NEVER take responsibility in anything... When i take a walk, people keep dropping trash from the HDB or HTB or watever they are called, and they dont pick it up. More like they are doing it deliberately cause they dont want to go down stairs and put it in the rubbish bin, or where they are suppoosed to put the stuff in.
Which shows that they dont think about other people, and they only think about theirselves and their families... Its not just this, I can think about other stuff too, but it wud be long so I just wrote one exampke

Also, they STARE at me, ( and I think its VERY rude)and never even SMIL when our eyes meet...

YEAH so THATS WHY SINGAPORE SUCKS... :`(

Here are my list of reasons why I despises Singapore.

- Many Singaporeans are so arrogant and blames foreigners for taking their job. Without foreigners, Singapore wouldn't even have an economy. May be the only company be standing is NTUC. :P

- There's no freedom of speech. Say the wrong thing and that's the end. I find it so pathetic that they are so concerned over such things. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

- Many Singaporeans are so ignorant regarding personal space especially in the MRT. You bump into someone, the least you can do is apologize. I have been in many incident where people tries to squeeze in to a small spot and didn't even bother to say 'Excuse Me'. What are they...? Bunch of mutes? The worst ones are those constructions workers, at days end; they smell worse than a dead cat.

- They have too much pride in their property prices. Believe it or not, it is foreigners that drive these prices; not the local Singaporean who are the minority group. When the property bubble burst; I will pop a champagne.

I am an asian currently living in Paris, France and leaving soon in two weeks actually. I have lived and travelled a lot over europe including Paris, London, Zurich and been to mostly all major and many smaller cities in western europe. If u think singapore has too many rules and is a boring unsophisticated place then please tell me whats sp exciting in paris or london besides eating and drinking and looking at old rusty buildings which they dont even have money to maintain anymore. London still has some progressiveness but France as a country is the most dead, nasty, uncivilised place to live. Try dealing with french people...they are good only for two minutes until their reality surfaces and they show how mean, selfish and arrogant they are. Most parisians live in tiny studio apartments and take their stinky metro to work and everywhere else yet they have such an attitude of superiority that u cant imagine, in reality french and other continental europeans are the most unhappy.,Depressed and frustrated people i have come across. Singapore is an asian city...europeans move to singapore and expect it to be like back home but they forget the reason why they are moving to asia these days...because there is no jobs and no economy left n europe...its a continent rotting away in corruption with high levels of debt and going nowhere. At least singaporean middle class kids excel at studies and even if they dont know how to change a bulb...at least they know how to make a lot of money and hire servants to change their bulbs. European kids these days only know how to drink and fight and abuse....see whats happening with youth in UK , france, germany.....such high levels of under 25 year olds unemployed and wasting their lives away,....europeans have become lazy and useless and unwilling to change...yet their complex of racial superiority remains.

Most of the reason why you hate Singapore is exactly why I love Singapore. I guess it's all perspective.

Absolutely True Facts!

It is no need to explain many things about why we hate singapore. Singaporeans are so arrogant and because
of their singlish language is difficult to understand! That's all important things

Your body will allocate resources to regulating your body thermostat rather than feeding your brain in a place as hot as Singapore. There is no escape from the heat. You can't even enjoy the world's favorite free activity: walking. You can't enjoy a walk without being distracted and murdered by the heat that never goes away. Not even in December, or at night. Everyday, the temperature soars up to above 30 degrees celsius. That's nowhere to live a proper life, when you can't even enjoy a leisurely walk!

I've know a Singaporean friend for over 14 years, during which he switched one job to a well known company as a pilot. However, the way he thinks has always been a problem between our communication, since I am a HKer myself, I found him very defensive esp when engaging in politics and normal arguments that did not favour him and he would get very defensive and even used profanities to bring me down and also very condescending. Oh I did spend a few of my formative years there and I had first hand experience myself as a kid before someone dissed me. I have another Sg friend who works in HK and he holds a completely different views to that pilot friend in Sg, yet when I bring that thing up how my Sg friend in HK has different world/Sg views, he actually said something outrageous in "your friend deffo is not true-blue Singaporean" and remarked me as "childish" since I hold different political views to his. I rebuked him there was a thing as you can agree to disagree and by bringing others down doesn't make you better either!. He shut up and went disappeared for a while! I mean the place is what and how it breeds their people how they become today.
